Te Ara a Māui (TAAM) is a Māori
Regional Tourism Group (MRTG).
We play an important role for Māori in Tourism in the
Wairarapa, Kapiti, Wellington / Greater Wellington,
Nelson and Marlborough regions of Aotearoa New Zealand.
We act as a facilitator between central and local
government, Regional Tourism Organisations (RTO’s)
and we strengthen the relationships between Māori
tourism operators and the wider industry associations
such as the Tourism
Industry Association of New Zealand (TIANZ), the
Ministry
of Tourism, and the Inbound Tour Operators Council (ITOC).
As a MRTG we also assist, promote and identify Māori
tourism products and services that will enable international
visitors to gain true knowledge and experience of Māori
culture and traditions and to learn more about our history
and contemporary Māori lifestyles.
Our mission is to provide pathways for Māori
to realise opportunities within the tourism and hospitality
industry.
We focus on Māori who have made tourism a priority
and who are committed to a successful Māori tourism
network.
